Biological activity is supported by biochemical reactions which proceed sequentially on the huge complexes consisting of proteins, cofactors involving organic and inorganic molecules, and nucleic acids, supporting well-balanced and highly efficient reactions. Advanced molecular biology gives us the tools to understand the molecular mechanisms on such super biomolecule from the view point of function and structure of components and regulation of reactions among them.
In this section, we are investigating super biomolecules concerning with the most essential processes for life, such as energy conversion and biological homeostasis in particular, to understand the structure-function relationship between the protein matrix and the cofactors involved in Photosystem II on photosynthetic electron transfer system, as well as in the heat shock response.
